The Family of Cedarville Elementary Welcomes You

“One of the best ways to make yourself happy in the present is to recall happy times from the past. Photos are a great memory-prompt, and because we tend to take photos of happy occasions, they weight our memories to the good.”
-Gretchen Rubin

Let’s Talk About “Memories” Loss
Nope, that is not a typo. I don’t plan on sharing the symptoms, causes, warning signs, and treatments of memory loss. I could be a clinical study at times, though. I want to
briefly talk about memories. More specifically…the building and retaining of memories.

There is a theme that I have latched onto over the years that I believe makes us what
we become. Memories…good memories…transferring not so good memories into those silver linings…taking the time to revisit the good memories regularly…not allowing “memories” loss…This is why we want to be, and how we want others to think of us.

I have talked at the Cedarville staff for a decade now. I am so very thankful that there is an understanding and an agreement that the greatest impact we can have for the thousands of students and their parents who have been/are part of our Cedarville family is to create good memories with them. Educating and building mastery are certainly important. Those are processes that have short and long term outcomes. Creating good memories tied to those processes are what makes it all meaningful.

If you haven’t already, create a memory or keepsake box. Keep school and
classroom newsletters. Take pictures…and more pictures. Most importantly, revisit and talk about all of the collected memories every year to avoid “memories” loss.

Don’t forget us,
Dr. Bakle
